What is the NDTA?
The NDTA was established in 1944 as the "Voice of Defense Transportation." In 2009, in recognition of the many other areas of logistics, the NDTA became known as The Association for Global Logistics and Transportation. The NDTA is an educational, non-profit, non-political, world-wide organization, equipped to combine logistics and transportation industry's manpower and skills with the expertise of those in government and military to achieve the mutual objective of a strong and responsive logistics capability to support the US economy and national security.
Who can join and what are the benefits?
Membership, open to businesses as
well as individuals, offers extensive educational, scholarship,
networking, and mentoring programs for young professionals, as well
as those who are more seasoned. The NDTA has been holding annual
Forums since 1946. The NDTA Forum and Exposition event is
considered key in the Association’s fulfillment of its educational
and professional development missions; plus, it offers outstanding
opportunities for networking and mentoring. Bimonthly, the NDTA
publishes the
Defense Transportation Journal, the leading educational journal
in Government and Defense Transportation and Logistics. NDTA also
publishes a monthly online newsletter, the
NDTA Gram.
Who is represented and what/who does the Association serve?
NDTA links all segments of the
logistics and transportation industry through its 60 plus chapters
in cities throughout the United States and countries in Asia, Europe
and the Pacific. The Association membership, totaling more than
9,000 and over 250 Corporate Members, represents the users,
manufacturers, mode carriers, information technology and related
military, government and civil interests.
NDTA has six major committees to pursue specific issues:
Military Airlift, Military Sealift, Surface Transportation,
Passenger Travel Services, Security Best Practices and Military
Distribution. The Committees offer assistance to U.S. Government
agencies such as the Department of Defense, and its components, the
Department of Transportation, the Department of Homeland Security.

The members of this Chapter, mindful of the vital importance of our transportation system in peacetime and its significance to the defense of the Free World, its indispensability in the economic development and security of our country, and its impact on energy needs and environmental concerns, associate themselves for active duty in this patriotic, educational, and scientific transportation organization.
