October 2010 Membership Meeting
The October 2010 membership meeting and luncheon was held at the Pompeii Italian Grill, San Antonio. Chapter President Cliff Altizer welcomed everyone and opened the general membership meeting with a few announcements. photo link
Announcements:
Altizer announced there would be a tour of the Air Force Clothing Issue Flight at Lackland AFB on November 17 and the annual Christmas party on December 5. Later, Lt Col Rich Fillman provided details on the November 17 tour. link to details
Shorty Salmans, member of the Board of Directors, reminded attendees about Wreaths Across America.org, which offers the opportunity to sponsor placement of wreaths on the graves of US war veterans at national veterans cemeteries each December. Wreaths are to be placed at the Sam Houston National Cemetery on December 11. Donations are $15, which must be received by November 24 for this year's placement. Short also asked for anyone who wants to help placing wreaths at the cemetery to contact him. link to details
Altizer then introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Aaron McKee of Federal IT Consulting. (link to photo)
McKee's presentation on the "Future of Logistics Management Systems" centered
on the integration and use of mobile
devices in supporting logistics information systems. "Mobile technology,"
McKee said, "frees users and systems from the desk top while reducing IT costs
and infrastructure." "It provides mobile access to data in real time that
is always as up to date as the main data base."

Altizer presented Mr. McKee with a Horse Shoe Business Card Holder in appreciation for addressing the group. photo link
Shorty Salmans ran the 50-50 drawing, which netted $37.00 for the lucky winner, Aaron McKee, and an equal amount for the Chapter scholarship fund. Aaron generously donated his $37.00 to the scholarship fund. Thanks Aaron and to everyone who participated.
Altizer thanked all in attendance and, there being no further comments from the floor, adjourned the meeting.
